These were just some of the feedback that Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine received from their 2013 “Happy to Have the Blues” Awards & Holiday Party at the Slippery Noodle on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013. Despite the challenging weather, the room was packed all night long and after 5 hours of live blues, people were still dancing and wanted more! Big City Blues maestro, guitarist, vocalist, NYC native—Dave Fields put it all together flawlessly with another New Yorker & Big City Blues editor—Guy Powell on drums and last minute substitute on bass, Indy native—Andra Faye (formerly of Saffire –The Uppity Blues Women) stepped in and performed all evening with Fields & Powell backing up many musicians. Thank-you Andra Faye! To kick off the “Happy to Have the Blues” show , Deak Harp from Clarksdale, Mississippi performed. Deak received the first award for “Best One-Man Band.” The evening continued with performances by Ray Fuller (Columbus, OH), Nigel Mack & Lise Gilly (Chicago), Indiana’s own—The Kinsey Report—Donald, Ralph & Ken (receiving “Lifetime Achievement” accolades), Smokey from Tweed Funk (Wisconsin), (“Coolest Blues Song of the Year” – “Dancemaker”), Eric Hughes (Memphis, TN), (“Coolest Blues Song of the Year” – “Drink Up”), Tad Robinson (Indiana), Andra Faye & Scott Ballantine (Indianapolis), Lisa Biales (Ohio), Luther “Badman” Keith (Detroit) & Paul Filipowicz (Wisconsin). And to Tiffany (The beautiful "Tadpole") for accepting for her dad,Clarence Frogman Henry(New Orleans)
