On The Road With Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine – Democratic National Convention ’08, Denver, CO

As we quickly approach the 3rd Anniversary of Katrina, Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine has been invited to climb aboard Tab Benoit’s bus. Our first stop will be in Denver at the Democratic National Convention on Sunday afternoon, August 24, 2008 where New Orleans’ recovery will be in the spotlight with musical ambassadors Tab Benoit & VOW All-Stars - George Porter, Jr., Cyril Neville, Waylon Thibodeaux, Johnny Sansone, Anders Osborne and Johnny Vidacovich welcoming and entertaining delegates to a pre-party and making sure that New Orleans’ recovery is not forgotten. Later that evening at 8 pm we will be backstage for a “New Orleans All Star Jam-balaya” at Denver’s Fillmore also featuring Tab Benoit & VOW All-Stars with additional guests - Irma Thomas, Marva Wright, Marcia Ball. Additionally there will be a special reunion of the Meters joined by Allen Toussaint, Terence Blanchard, Henry Butler, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Trombone Shorty, Funky Nation front man-Big Sam, James Andrews, The Soul Rebels and The Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indians.

Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine will continue to support New Orleans recovery and recently dedicated two issues (Dec/Jan & June/July) on New Orleans and Katrina’s aftermath. Plus Gimme 5! A Fundraiser will be aboard the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise – Mexican Riviera—October 5-12, 2008 with The Sailin’ On The Highs Seas Auction.
