Big City Blues Magazine’s Holiday Blues Party raised much needed canned food for St. Florian’s Church!
(12/19/10), Kelly’s Bar hosted Big City Blues Magazine's first annual Can Jam Holiday Blues Party - "Going Back To Our Roots" for St. Florian Church (remember “Polish Wedding?”). St. Florian Church, a block from Kelly's, asked their neighbors for help to fill up their pantry so they can feed the hungry, the need is greater than ever. Big City Blues Magazine was more than happy to help. Hundreds of folks turned out and donated not just one can but bags of cans! What generosity from not only Blues fans plus lots of blues musicians who stopped by too and donated their time. Thanks to Big City Blues’ musical host—Bob Monteleone, Stumbling Mice, Dave Edwards, Chris Canas, Angie Canas, Luther “Badman” Keith, Sir Mack Rick, Darryl Lee, Nick Tabarias and Johnnie Bassett. Kelly’s Bar will continue to collect canned food for St. Florian Church though the New Year. Stop by Kelly’s Bar – 2403 Holbrook, Hamtramck, MI to see the mountain of cans and donate a box of canned food today! Other highlights included Sir Mack Rice, Robert Jr and Johnnie Bassett receiving Big City Blues Magazine's Happy to Have the Blues Awards for "Best Ride".
