Before I started Big City Rhythm &
Blues Magazine 15 years ago I was a traveling photographer and I introduced
myself to the music business all over the country. What struck me was
the universal need to move toward the “Bright Lights” whether
it is the distant flickering light from a jukejoint on a Mississippi cotton
field or the 24 hour midnight sun of a New York City nightclub. Blues
men and women always looked to the Big City to aspire to. Bright Lights,
Big City. So when I started this magazine I named it after Jimmy Reed’s
song, “Bright Lights, Big City”
Bright Lights, Big City
Gone to my baby’s head
Bright Lights, Big City
Gone to my baby’s head
I try to tell the woman
But don’t believe a word I said
Bright Lights, Big City
Went to my baby’s head
Bright Lights, BigCity
Went to My Baby’s Head
I hope you remember
some of those things I said
The Bright Lights, Big City Sampler as usual has all the flavors of the
blues: funk-rock, bigband, guitar-driven, Mardi Gras Indian blues, Viking
blues, Chicago blues, New York City blues, New Orleans blues, Westcoast
blues,KC blues, Miami blues and Motown blues.
Mahalo! Aloha! May The River Be With You! May The Wind Be At Your Back!,
